Demolition begins on the final building of the old Lanier High School that became Central High School. Some of the bricks will be salvaged for a memorial near the flag pole of the new building.

I guess the old ROTC building is going too? I went to Miller when this school was Lanier.

Could have been renovated and used as part of the new Court House. Would have saved Bibb Co millions of tax payers money. This was thousands of square feet wasted. You'll never see front steps like that ever again. Shame on Macon for destroying a part of history. Imagine if those walls could talk.

aa a former student of this once great place of learning, i am saddened at the final blow being struck to erase everything that the school stood for. ou motto was "We Lead"..seems like in this case we don't. i reckon the Sydney Lanier Cottage will be next! goodbye heritage! nuff said!
